For What Itís Worth,
Consider the Greatness of Our God

By E. J. Bradshaw

At East Leesville Baptist as in many other churches, we often sing “How Great is Our God!” The first prayer their mother and I taught our sons was, “God is great; God is good; Let us thank Him…” Have you thoughtfully considered how really great God is?

The Bible teaches and history proves that our God, Jehovah, is omnipotent (or all powerful.) “God has spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongs to our God.” Psalm 62:11. So, “with God nothing shall be impossible.” Luke 1:37, Revelation 19:6. But what does the omnipotence of God mean to us?

It means that He is able to forgive our sins! Matthew 9:6-7. It means that “He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him (Jesus), seeing that He ever lives to make intercession for them.” Hebrews 7:25. (May I clarify this unexplainable truth alluded to in this verse?) There is only One God, but He reveals Himself and relates to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus said, “I and my Father are one.” John 10:30. He promised to send “another Comforter or Paraclete – the Holy Spirit.” The word “another” doesn’t mean another of a different kind, but one who is the same in essence and being. John 14:16-26.

Our All Powerful, Majestic God is “able to make all grace abound toward you; that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.” 2 Corinthians

9:8.

“God’s power is able to keep you from falling.” Jude 24. “He is able to keep the soul that’s committed to Him.” Paul wrote to Timothy, “I have a strong assurance that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him.” 2 Timothy 1:12. God’s power enables Him to fulfill His every promise. Romans 4:21. God’s mighty power enables Him to use weak, less than perfect human beings to accomplish His purpose. 1 Corinthians 1:27-29. “God is able to subdue all things to Himself.” Philippians 3:21.

He is able to deliver us and to supply all our needs. Daniel 3:17, Philippians 4:19. In fact, He is able to do exceeding abundantly above that which we ask or think.” Ephesians

3:20. To affirm God’s power, He raised Jesus from the dead! My hope is in Him and eighty plus years of living has proved to me that He is alive and well, and He is worthy of your love and trust. Try Him!
