For What Itís Worth, Letís Keep Trying!
By E. J. Bradshaw

The New Year 2013 brings many problems that cry out for solutions; and if I could, as a citizen, I would solve (fix) them. In every school, I would insure the safety of our students; I would solve our nationís debt problem; I would initiate immigration reform and secure our national borders; I would free the millions of people from the addictions that enslave them. I would train people (young and old) for productive employment and stop government entitlements to those who could but refuse to work; I would reform the tax codes and ensure that every person pays his or her fair share; I would eliminate fraud and waste in government spending.

If I could, I would stop the murderous abortion of babies; I would put an end to the drug traffic. I would bring our military personnel home from the other peoplesí wars that they are fighting and I would heal the physical, emotional and spiritual trauma suffered by so many. I would make ďhomeĒ the desired place to be for husband, wives and children. I would instill in our children the intense desire for learning that characterizes children in other cultures, and I would insist that schools provide top quality educational opportunities.

If I could, I would return Americans to the spiritual and moral core values that made our country great!

Am I dreaming the impossible dream? Yes! I cannot cure our nationís many ills! So, what am I to do? Should I join the many and throw up my hands and give up? NEVER!

Iíll do what I can! I can and will pray! I will keep informed of issues and activities in local, state and federal government. By name, I will pray for my congressmen, senators, President, governor, state representatives, and parish officials; and I will communicate my desires and opinions to those who can initiate change. I will vote for those who are committed to our countryís welfare.

By reflecting Christ-likeness, I will be a beacon and influence for righteousness. I will seek to lead others to live for my God. With others, I will claim the promise of God found in II Chronicles 7:14: ďIf my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.Ē

Will you please join me in this effort!
